Therefore, we must condemn these type of people.

 

Yes the safavids Shias had a tremendous impact on the Ottomans. Kennedy( Rise and fall of the great powers) says: " The safavids were willing to take infidels as allies against the ottomans". The Europeans apparently, used to say " If it wasn't for the Shias( fighting the ottomans) we would be praying like they do in North Africa". The Shias also aided the Tartars and today they have aided America in taking Baghdad, so history as a funny of way of repeating itself.

I think it is misplaced loyalty if one thinks that all muslims dont commit sins. Of course they do and as Abu Geeljire said, It is high time we take responsibility for our actions. Forget about what the West say about us. Let us look into ourselves and our behaviour. Nothing justifies the killings of innocent people, (be they muslims or non-muslims). Let us all judge ourselves by the Quran and Sunnah and not compare ourselves to the West and their actions. They dont set the standards for us.

Al-Qaeda or Al-Qaeda groups have many labels coined by the West and puppet secular regimes. The list includes; Wahhabi, Quttubi, Takfiri, Salafi, puritanical, Islamo-fascist, radical, extremist, fundamentalist, iwm. The labels are meant to demonize and dehumanize them.

Regardless of the phrases they coin, we muslims should also focus on our own shortcomings. I believe, once we correct our behaviour as per Islamic teachings, then we will be able to overcome these secular corrupt regimes and their allies.

Placing the blame squarely on the west simply means you are affraid to admit the truth. The truth that there are some misguided people, groups out there who are using the name of Islam the wrong way.

 

For a discussion to take place on how we can best teach those who are misguided true Islam you must give up some ground on the 'blame it all on the west' excuse.
