His fiction has been translated into more than a dozen languages and won numerous awards, including the 1998 Neustadt International Prize for Literature. "Widely regarded as the most prestigious international Prize for Literature and most literary awards after the Nobel" (New York Times). Nuruddin Farah was born in 1945 in Baidoa, Somalia. The author of eight books, including the trilogy of novels known as Variations on the theme of an African Dictatorship. Exiled from Somalia after his novel Sweet and Sour Milk, Farah began what has become a lifelong literary pursuit “to keep my country alive by writing about it" His three novels Maps, Gifts, and Secrets. Comprise the "Blood in the Sun" trilogy, and all are available from Arcade Publishing.
