We are watching the news; the space shuttle Discovery arrives successfully at the International Space Station, and my mother says: "waxaan waa lugu waashtaa, bismillah, daawooyin ayaa lugu aruuriyaa inteena meesha aadin".

 

My 4-year-old cousin is listening in the armchair. I suddenly realize why there are no Somali astronauts - or why we've never been in a submarine!
