SeeKer Posted August 5, 2009 Racist? What about the poster screams racism? The poster takes a stab at his socialist inclination. Thats free speech for you.
General Duke Posted August 5, 2009 ^^^He is not socialist dear, does not even have socialist inclinations. Also since when has the joker been a socialist?
SeeKer Posted August 5, 2009 Never said he was anything. I remarked the poster takes a stab at those inclination. Personal opinions of Obama aside, the poster represents what the artist intends it to represent. You on the other hand see racism and I don't. The joker character is fictional at best and I don't believe the Bob Kane meant for him to be anything more than a criminal. Following that train of thought I would then associate stealing (taxing the rich) to Obama and giving to the poor (slice of socialism pie) aka the modern day Robin Hood.
General Duke Posted August 5, 2009 The creative minds behind the poster are a dimwits, the joker as I have stated is not a socialist character nor is our President socialist. However the man is black and hence while every attack on Obama should not be defended by cries of racism I think there is some validity to this one. The President looks like a minstrel of old, you remember them don’t you?
SeeKer Posted August 6, 2009 ^^I definitely do since I have done a few tunnel of oppression programs in my uni days. Duke.....erm you are determined to see what you want to see so lets agree to disagree. You keep decrying anything anyone says against the president as racism pretty soon we won't have a case when someone is really racist. Just something to keep in mind next time you want to use the race card
Nin-Yaaban Posted August 6, 2009 The joker picture is not racist. People need to lighten up a little.

[/i] Like I stated earlier the race card should not be used in every instance its just this poster does look eerily like the old minstrel. I don’t even mind attacks on the President as long as they are funny or appropriate, this poster lacks both humor and seriousness. Anyhow I respect your opinion though I hold a totally different one. Nin Yaban- whats your take on the poster?
RedSea Posted August 7, 2009 The character of the "joker" is usually a anarchist more than anything. That poster doesn't make much sense.
winnie Posted August 8, 2009 i dont think the poster is racist, though alot of the criticism this guy is getting is rooted in racism, including the claim he is a socialist. the term seems to scare americans witless (sweden is a socialist country, among many other european states, and is very clean and has one of the best health care systems) in part because of the cold war, and therefore rings in the uneducated minds as something un-american or undemocratic, and even anarchistic (anarchaic? ) i mean, look at the "birher" movement. RedSea Posted August 9, 2009 Try convincing hilly billy that health care reform will actually benefit them at the end. If they reviewed the whole outline of the health care reform carefully before they protest they would understand it helps average American and finally tame big insurance companies.
