Both would be too young to shoulder the consequences of being sexually active. Furthermore, it isn't condoned by any society (whether it happens or not). However Adult/child relations generally have far more serious (and sinister) ramifications. The potential for abuse in such a relationship is staggering. Also, some societies condone this type of relationship (young female+older male) more than they do other types. So, the comparison isn't accurate. How so sis….now um not comparing young as 10-12 or with our culture….but at JH, HS 13 14yrs old girls were not children…but women. Some these innocent little girls…had affairs with teachers...and sex with many partners. Its best they should be married…no? I think we (including myself) denounce this practice marriage between young girl and adult because we have been polluted by the Western thought. how do you know this? where are you getting your info. from? its a fact that young people in their early teens have not fully developped yet in terms of psychology, their problem solving techniques, social management are still forming which causes them to think they are invincible which than leads to what we term wreckless behavior, like promiscuity, drugs and alcohol abuse, extreme sports etc. so a kid this age engaging in promiscuous sex, be they male or female, obviously what would be best for them is marriage. but are you seriously telling me there arent any grown men and women who actively seek out young boys and girls to use their poor judgement skills against them to essentially use them? do you not see how a teacher, of all people, would be aware of this? and how it falls on the educators shoulders to stop any advances, if there are any, from a 13-14 yr old student? its not western influence, islam states it clearly. there are guidelines to marriage which include both parties be of mature age, mature including mental and physical characteristics because both parties have to be aware of their rights and duties. i don't think it's western influence that makes us wary of these types of relationships as it is a general feeling of protection towards our young. there are predators out there. im sorry for the long response and seriously no offense (cause i'm almost positive there was nothing sinister in yr response), but i dont like giving perverts excuses. now, that i got that out of the way, maturity is a social construct. the longer the life span=the later the average age of marriage (not to mention the other factors like education, industry, economy e.t.c). and to turn the page and flip the script once more, i once read an article that said there are two contributing factors to men seeking young girls& 1) some prefer the body type of prepubescent or early pubescent girls (or boys) 2) they enjoy feeling in control, or dominant in the sexual arena and doing it (for lack of a better term) with young people provides them with more authority and room to experiment, something they feel they cant do with a counter part. the article also stated that a small minority actually do it for reason one, and these two factors arent mutually exclusive.
