Way i Qalanayaan

Recommended Posts

How often do you hear an elderly relative saying: "way i qalanayaan, don't leave me here"..? Being admitted to a hospital is a step many elderly dread having to take. Paranoid? Definitly. And I don't really blame them, almost all the waayeelo I know that have gone in for some minor illnessess never came out. Apparently they all had caught pneumonia whilst staying at the hospital, ended up in an ICU, put on life support, then the organs failed one by one..

I know no one can be kept alive for longer than Allah intended, but do you think these evil doctors are putting our elderly in an early grave?

Interesting,,,

I knew a lady Allah Yarxamha who refused a heart by pass op. She died a month or so later.

Then you have the other extreme of wanting medicine even when the doctor says you dont need any  . Being prescribed medicine seems to have some sort of reassurance rather being given the all clear and exercising.

In Toronto, we have this hospital, Humber River Hospital - Church River Site (cuz they have three sites), well, anyone who goes in doesn't come out a live...Mostly, the elders though...Walahi, that's what the Somali people believe...Horta, tath damn Hospital, I don't know why it is still open...It is dirty as hell, well at least to my standards...Too many people at any give day and time...Very rude staff...

Waxaaba iiga sii daran, Somalida say isaga dhaadhac siiyeen in organs ka lagala baxo...Oh, well, young or old, key tiisa gasho way gashay, hospital or not...

Here all somalis i know who have been to hospital for whatever reasons have the biggest complaints includin me( I complained abt why the hospital staff fulfilled my wish for a hot back masaage and warm bags for my backpain during labour! how ridiculous, coz apperently i had nothing else to complain abt!).

We r born to nag and complain what an ungrateful nation.

Dangerous comment there me dear. Not all hospitals have good rep, and not everyone receives this top notch service you speak of. Bad things happen at hospitals, even well-run ones and horrendous things can happen at any time, to anyone, and no we're not ungrateful.

Personaly, I never had any problems with my local hospital, and that's b/c I've never had the occasion to require an overnight stay. The only time I've had an overnight stay in a hospital was the day I was born in Xamar. However; there are far to many horror stories concerning our elders. The worst case I can tell you about [among many, many] was a classmate of mine whose grandmother had gall bladder surgery at age 72. Due to errors with respiration, heart rate and oxygen during the surgery, my friend's ayeeyo went into a coma. After four days she died. It was heartbreaking! The family filed suit against the hospital. I know there is no way to place a monetary value on a loved one's life, but one must pay something for their irresponsible actions.

That was just one example of why I have no trust whatsoever for hospitals. Insha Allaaah my xabad-soda will keep me from having to deal with them for any jirro.

I am not sure, anything is possible walaal, but apart from the general distrust as a community towards hospitals/doctors, do we have any evidence to back up these claims, this is serious charage.

About the old man and gall bladder surgery (AUN), what was the irresponsible action i am not sure i understand. Are u saying there should not have been surgery in the first place? Don't u think its up to patients to be knowledgeable about their doctors/hospitals and seek proper treatment, instead of believing everyone is out to get them?

Insha Allaaah my xabad-soda will keep me from having to deal with them for any jirro.

lol@ xabad soda.......u can always get a muslim doctor u know. Inshallah caafmid iyo xiimri dheer baan ku rajanaya.
