nuune Posted January 14, 2009 Bolivian Leader Evo Morales says his country has severed diplomatic ties with Israel in condemnation of Tel Aviv's aggression in Gaza Strip. "Given these grave crimes against life and humanity, Bolivia is breaking off diplomatic relations with Israel," President Morales was quoted by AFP as saying on Wednesday. This is while, the coastal region has lost 1,001 residents to 19 days of full-scale Israeli assaults, which have also injured 4,580. The development came after Venezuela expelled Israel's ambassador to Caracas in protest at the "Holocaust of Palestinians." Press TV, AFP
Faarax-Brawn Posted January 14, 2009 Bolivia? Isnt that, like,a third world country? Where, say, umm,no one in the west gives a hoot about? Unless, the arab countries condemn America & severe ties, sheekadu waa sheeko xariir.
Decadent Ambition Posted January 14, 2009 Evo Morales is obviously trying to impress his leftist friend and leader Chavez. I doubt Chavez or Morales care about Palestine. To them this is rather a political spat at US and hopefully a rise in crude prices.

Actually it is a bigger deal than it seems, because a lot of the US's cocaine comes from Bolivia, which is a neighbour to Colombia. The US may be fighting a "war on terror", but they're also fighting a war on drugs and this surely won't help that cause, but then again I don't think US and Bolivia had very good relations in the first place.
