UNKNOWN GUNMEN ASSASSINATE A POLICE OFFICER IN BOSASO

Bosaso (PP News Desk) — Reliable sources have confirmed to Puntland Post the death of Omar Mohamed Yusuf, a police officer, whom unknown gunmen killed in Bosaso on Saturday at 10: 00 AM.

A group of gunmen attacked the police officer at a busy bus station for buses bound for Qardho district. The slain police officer was buying food supplies for mother, who lives in Qardho.

Attackers targetted Omar at a busy bus station in Bosaso

Omar tried to overpower two men who had tried to disarm him. Severel men came to the rescue of the two men. One of the men fired six bullets at Omar at close range and too the officer’s gun with them. Omar died of wounds sustained in the attack.

The identity of the assailants has not been officially established. Statement taken from Omar before passing away indicates he had identified the origin of the assailants.

The assassination comes at a time the security of the commercial city of Puntland is deteriorating.
