Puntland confirms first death from COVID-19 pandemic

Somalia’s Puntland regional state has announced the death of a person who was suspected to have been suffering from COVID-19.

The body tasked with overseeing Puntland’s COVID-19 response said the person died before the results for their test came in.

Puntland has so far announced one case of the deadly virus.

Somalia’s COVID-19 national tally stands at 286 with 13 deaths.
