WORLDREMIT FOUNDER DONATES ONE MILLION DOLLARS TO COVID-19 FUND IN SOMALILAND

Hargeysa (PP News Desk) — The founder of the global money transfer company WorldRemit Dr Ismail Ahmed has donated one million US dollars to the Covid-19 Fund in Somaliland.

The donation to the Fund comes in the form of medical supplies and equipment to combat Coronavirus. It is the first and single largest donation from a pioneering Somali business person to efforts to prevent spread of Covid-19.

The donation to the Fund boosts efforts by Somaliland Government through Somaliland health service providers to which it committed  three million dollars.

The Director of the Somaliland Diaspora Department Sa’ad Mohamed Abdi thanked Dr Ismail and WorldRemit for the timely contribution to the Somaliland Covid-19 Fund. WorldRemit is based in London.
