Dahabshiil Money Transfer Receives an Islamic Bank License From Djibouti

Hargeisa, 28 Jan 2009 (Somalilandpress) - Dahabshiil Inc. which is the largest and the leading financial services provider in the Horn of Africa has received a license to open an Islamic Bank in the country of Djibouti.

 

Dahabshiil which pioneered the Hawala or money transfer business was founded in 1970 and today it has thousands of agents around the world. Dahabshiil is mostly used by expatriates from Africa and Middle East.

 

Dahabshiil’s new Islamic Bank will function in the Islamic banking tradition and it will also offer the traditional banking needs. Most Somali and Somaliland business people are in urgent need to have a bank where they can use for their business transactions. This bank will fill in the need for a Line of Credit for business folks who currently do not have a bank to use in both Somali and Somaliland.

 

This bank license will put Dahabshiil in a better position to dominate the market with its services and attract more clients not only in the region but also internationally.
