Mogadishu Mayor sounds alarm over Covid-19 infections

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Mayor of Mogadishu Omar Mohamud Mohamed spoke to the media today in Mogadishu about the spread of Covid-19 in the capital city.

“People I know have become infected with Covid-19. There are fatalities. People who have fallen ill with Covid-19 did not travel to Somalia” Omar told the media. The Mayor urged people to follow instructions to prevent the spread of the disease. “People will receive phone calls to their mobile handsets. Please follow instructions .”

The Mayor urged people to wash their hands and practise social distancing. “We must take the threat of Covid-19 seriously” Omar said.

The Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed the death of a person who contracted Covid-19 in Mogadishu.
