Hibo Posted April 10, 2002 I whole heartedly agree with Athena...I really cant stand the diets in the Somali restaurants. The Menu is never innovative n the service always sucks. We better start building some world class restaurants where people from all walks of life go and enjoy the different varieties of Somalis food. Im sure we got alot to offer ------------------ ("`-''-/").___..--''"`-._ `6_ 6 ) `-. Hibo Posted April 11, 2002 Miskin i can't believe you're another typical somali.the last time i checked the rer xamar were making sense than the nomadic archaic somalis but you proved me wrong,a somali will always be a somali no matter how much is invested in him by the Canadian or the americans. Who told you i'm fired or i somehow lost my job,do you think i reason like those somalimen who act like young boys sagging their Fubu to attract the equally no brainer somali ladies or you thought one can't visit somaliaonline.com unless he's no longer employed, either way you still don't make sense just like the rest of the somalis fighting in the green line. DUde this track i'm driving is more equiped and comfortable than the dwellings of most somalis in north america.speaking of somaliaonline i'm comfortable chating from the comfort zone of my truck, infact i'm sitting on my bed watching a dvd on the left corner of the truck not to mention scanning the satellite to see what's goining on in the middle east.About my whereabout tomorrow i'm heading to carlifornia and from there i will hit texas, florida and all the way to the new england states, money making is where i specialise. hey thanks for the support,we the bantus are equally baffled at the rate in which the somalis are converting to the n word cult that's only free for the likes of me,i mean the bantus you know. uhhhhhhhhh looooook somalis are scared of their own food, when will they know that the little you have is better than the Mcdonald you always visit. loser4life life simplified, everything else critically analysed

Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted April 11, 2002 Salaan... Loser: You completely did not get my plain joke. Kamoon, and relax. I was only joking. Hokey, just chill out then. The reason I used the truck was that the last time I saw you writing, you were talking about the truck you drive. Saan hadii u fudud tahey bas waaye, anaaba kaa gar daran nooh. Ee neerta isii anaaba mar danbe kuugu soo jisaareynin bo. And by the way, Soomaali this and that, don't you know that you yourself are a fellow Soomaali; so hate it or live with it. Soomaali walba dhib waa arkey mise aragtey, hadii dadkaa la cadaadiyey aa Soomaali ugu nacdey, think again. We all did taste the bitter side of Soomaali, and yet we are still brothers and sisters. commonsense Posted April 12, 2002 Okay if Somali restaurants are that terrible why do you keep eating there???? Bariis and hilib ari is what we're all about, what are they suppose to serve two string beans and corn. If you go to Mexiacan restaurant what do they serve, taco this and taco that. WHY?? Because 90% of their business comes from their own ppl, why would they change their menu to make 10% of the customers happy and lose 90%.Think The same goes for Somali Rest.
Hibo Posted April 12, 2002 Well, i can say Somali restaurants cater for what we demand. We demanded Bariis and they gave us bariis. So you see? the blame is not theirs but ours, the problem is the choices we make when it comes to choosing which food we like. If we all choose PORK-xaaraam then the caterers will cook it for us, full stop. you have the choice to eat what you want to eat! There is something else that worries more than the menu. Imagine sharing a table with a Somali female whos dressed with a mini that aroses men? or a woman using the table oposite to you with her legs un-crossed? It is not a pretty picture but thats what i was warning about when I said Somali women must eat in a secluded area. Thats what our culture says and so does our religion. We respect women for what they mean to us but not for what they are not! It is a well-known fact that even our sisters/mothers do still eat seperate from male family members. It is not about men dominating women's choices but the practise carries with it a code of respect and self-preservation. All I am saying here is that our girls are expenssive when they cover their "caurah" and if they dont then they're not more than a trush, just like the white trush. So, when a brother gives you a word of advice please consider him to be on your side but not against you. Hibo Posted April 12, 2002 what is the big deal if girl eats in public? where in the religion does it say. i have no problem with somali culture, but in my family we all eat at one table.
Baydan Posted April 12, 2002 God forbid they take away the bariis and hilib from menu, I havent had nearly enough of it!! damn last time I been to one was back in '98 some restaurante in Columbus and I still salivate when I remember.. Mr.Jibril ow brotha you realy need to change your debating method you're always "terrorizing" somebody whith those godawful 50 buck words. What's wrong if a woman eats outside?huh? I mean c'mooon realy It is not xaraam.
commonsense Posted April 12, 2002 MrJibriil i'll respect your opinion, but i don't agree. Women don't have any problems having their own spot . But for you to say, men can't focus on their food because women with their "cowro" are everywhere...don't like that comment. Not every single woman goes out wearing goono dabada cankeeda joogta. We dress decent enough to go in public. I don't think there is a decent sister here who would feel comfortable to walking half-naked infront of her brother, father and cousins and so she certainly wouldn't do it at a restaurant. We want to be looked at as human beings who come to a restaurant to eat, not sex objects. Hibo Posted April 12, 2002 Let me intervene guys MrJibriiL is somehow right Bulo Baydan Commonsense, I dont know if you guys talking about western way of living but certainly no well-informed Somali will ever recommend women to mingle with women in eating places. We are proud [This message has been edited by JamaaL-11 (edited 04-12-2002).]
Hibo Posted April 12, 2002 SISTER FROM LONDON, UK.... WHY DON'T WE ALL STOP JUDGING AND MOST OF ALL GENERALISING? ALL I SEE IS U USING THE WORD "SOMALI" AS IF A FEW MINORITIES FROM MN OR WHERE EVER ELSE YOU ARE WILL REPRESENT THE WHOLE POPPULATION OF SOMALI'S IN THE WORLD! BE WHO U ARE....LOVE WHO...U ARE...LOVE WHERE U CAME FROM...FROM A SIS WHO LOVES WHO SHE IS

Hibo Posted April 14, 2002 MrJibril: I am not gonna criticize u more than Baydan, Buulo or common sense did, however I have these two cents of mine to add...Women whether back home or here in the west did/do eat with men. It is very rare to find otherwise, especially in the southern part of somalia... that is th eonly place i have knowledge of...I dind't grow up in the north or ever been there, but in the south, we all r a family.. N no man gets aroused from seeing a woman that is eating infront of him...n for ur info, we don't wear mini skirts...any woman that is wearing goono gaaban is out to get some lower heads turning....so al in vain, what I am trying to say here is, " Ha keenin sheeko aan meesha oolin"...simple..I hope that clarified some of the misconceptions we have been having..... ------------------ Each one of us is a masterpiece in progress
