Toddler gets burnt after falling on hotel grill

Dubai: A father whose two-year-old boy fell on a grill and sustained 15 per cent permanent disability is suing the hotel, where the accident happened, and its waiter for $2 million [about Dh7.34m] compensation.

 

The two-year-old Russian boy sustained 30 per cent body burns and according to medical reports, his skin lost part of its function which regulates the body temperature.

 

The accident happened during a barbecue beach party which the five-star hotel management threw for its customers.

 

The Indian waiter was making some candies and serving a boy seated 12 meters away from the grill when the Russian boy fell on the charcoal.

 

Responsibility

 

The two-year-old victim was rushed to hospital where it was reported that he sustained second and third degree burns in different parts of his body.

 

The hotel's lawyer Dr Habib Al Mulla, of Habib Al Mulla and Co Advocates and Legal Consultants, will submit his defence to the Dubai Civil Court next month.

 

The Dubai Court of Appeal fined the Indian waiter Dh3,000 and held him responsible for the accident due to negligence.

 

The father is seeking medical, financial, moral and emotional compensation for the accident which took place at the hotel.

Is talk radio unislamic? Talk radio isnt necessarily unprincipled. Even those talk radios in this country (UK), It is not true that anything goes. They are regulated by the media regulator Ofcom, and censored when it is necesssary. Then there is the Press Complaints Commission for the audiances that arent happy about the behaviour of journalists which you think breaks the press Code of Practice .

On the drive home today I was listening to Q&A on Ramadan in Arabic (yes in Arabic). The other night it was all about how selfish today's society is, in English. On sat afternoons there is talk radio on everything Islam in English. It really not that bad. Your probably thinking of all that trash radio talk shows in the west at 12am when things turn Jerry Springer like. Not here.

The Hotel is to blame. Period. They should have had a health and safety rules in place so that such events are thought of, in advance. It is not the responsibility of the waiter at all. As said, it is typical of these morons to treat minorities in such a manner. Horrendous.

Though they maybe "Regulated" through regulatory boards it does not exculde it from propogating certain amoral values. Talk radio propagates liberalism and ideas such as "Freedom of Expression", "Freedom of Opinion", "Freedom of the Press" etc. It is these same ideas that have brought out the conflict btwn Religion and Secularism. The "God Centered" society has been pinned up, rejected and replaced by the "God Excluding" society.

 

What Talk Radio and Radio and general promote and reflect are "current" values. It promotes a 'Mob-like Thinking' wherein the Talk Jockey lead by his financiers (the corporate world with their particular agendas) leads the Mob in 2min. streams of thought that everyone has to agree with it. They set what are the 'Values' and what is to be held as a "Social Taboo" if not "Illegal".

 

Imagine having a poll on the radio in Damscus on whether women should wear Niqaab or men Shave their beard for a job interview? And the callers would largerly agree with the Talk Jockey's liberal position of saying yes to shaving the beard off for an interview because in there opinion its only a sunnah (just a hypothetical example!)

 

Therefor, using the example of having quran or duruus on a radio show thus justifying talk radio is not judging the "Serpent" appropriately but saying that due to his smooth skin, he is beautiful and would make a good house pet.

SO you are suggesting that all views that is contrary to and not in line with any govt should be buried? I think views can be challenged as long as they are expressed publically. Naqaska dadka lagu celinayo was never the way of the prophet (saw). Curbs of this nature, imposed by a community or a state, will ultimately produce a society of hypocrites. No sincere person can ever flourish in such a repressive atmosphere. It is only freedom of thought and expression which can save man from hypocrisy.

You can still follow Allah's laws whilst letting others have their say. Of course as with everything, there are limits but to completely drive these views underground? Just see what is happening and the mess we are in in majority of muslim countries.

There are certain words that cant be said on air and certain discussions are off limits. Isn't censorship sometimes necessary? Some European countries propagating information deemed to be racist or harmful to society is illegal. Inciting the murder of groups or individuals is illegal.

In an Islamic country, The insulting of reverred figures such as the prophets would be no -go area. However they can say all they like about Islam and its adherents. They can even be liberal in their thinking. The time of the prophet (saw), people used to call him all sorts of names (Read the Quran for references).

 

But in the above context, we are talking about the issue of airing people's view and whether censorship is necessary. According to Khayr, it is. Unfortunately, preventing people from being aware of the often sophisticated arguments used by non-religious, makes them vulnerable to those arguments when they do eventually encounter them.

I have no choice but to point a finger (as we normally do)to:

 

- The poor Waiter for not taking care of the Kid before he get toasted.(I hope he is recovering from the Cigaal beatings and got his Xuquuq before the Tarxiil).

 

- The Dad for sending Mum to unspecified business meeting and taking too much Samagon instead of the more acceptable lighter versions in Dubai.

 

- Last but not least, Who can blame the hotel for hiring Dr H Al-Mulla as their lawyer? That factor only can prove they are totally blameless.
