The ship was full of oil and is believed to be one of the largest yet seized by Somali pirates. There are 28 crew members on board. Pirate attacks have been common off the Somali coast and international navies have been deployed to counter them. Paragon Posted November 30, 2009 Pirates in Somalia are a necessity for bigger (highly benefiting) projects to global powers and even less powerful ones. Without pirates, they'll be no gain for those in Somalia's offshores. Hence why the so-called pirates are captured, treated and released.
