-Lily- Posted May 22, 2009 From all the manly praise I'm guessing she must have said something along the lines of 'ilahey ka baqa, be good obidient house wifes etc'
Malika Posted May 22, 2009 ^ It sounds like it,especially if Paragon had posted it for our 'benefit'..

Paragon Posted May 25, 2009 Malika, lol. That's the typical thought that comes to mind, innit? Women, eh?
Malika Posted May 25, 2009 ^ Ah! Women, what to do with them! If only they knew their place,is that what she is poetically mumbling about ?
Haneefah Posted May 26, 2009 ^Salaam dear . Far from that (as I understand, of course). It's not at all a poem composed for women unless of course Paragon is of the view that the whole gabay is only an extension of one of the opening lines (I can see dad baad u dan lahayd inaad ku duqeeyso kilmada ey tidhi iyaguna kulameey fahmin ). If anything, Rooda is all for empowering women, however, her concerns, as demonstrated by most of her powerful poems, reach far beyond mere gender issues. It's a very rich and poignant gabay addressing all Somalis, describing their current plight and sad state of affairs, awakening them to the truth. I really like this part: "Meelkastaba ha joogaan dadkuye magicii Soomali Maraagii(?) iyo in caynkii u go'ay muranle weeyaanee Musiibadan khadhaadh iyo duliga aan dhex miiraneyno La inalama maagine waxaan mudanay weeyaanee Milicsadaa inaan garano waa lagama-maarmaane"
Malika Posted May 26, 2009 ^WCS Sis, ..Saas ii dhe! Thank you for that.It was Lily's fault she started the suspicious ball rolling..
Paragon Posted May 26, 2009 Malika, I blame Lily for starting the suspicion. You girls are hot-wired to be suspicious these days, aren't you? Hooskiina ha ka didina. Anyway, as Haneefah has rightly pointed out, the poem deals with many issues - social and political - but overall, the first passage is so beautifully articulated as a warning to dhaqan-celis girls that I found it fitting to dedicate to you ladies. I think they (some Somali women) need serious dhaqan-celis. To me it's the dhaqan that factors majorly in how I see a young woman's suitability for 'anything'. Haneefah, adigu I hope you are not in need of Dhaqan-celis. You seem to have a good grasp on the Dhaqanka iyo Diintuba. Very clever of you to understand halkaan ka duulaayey lol. Anyway, you pasted your favourite part of the poem and now it's my turn to post the part that impressed me. Heed the advice, you lady.. "Malkada ila habboon toobiyaha aan u sii maro e Waxaa igu maqaala ah qurbaha waad ku Milanteene MASKTIYO dhallaankii barbaa raacay mudutuullee Midabkeenni diiddaa la yiri maarranaan jiraye Haddii laga mur baxo dhaqankoo looba mohon mayo Oo aynu midaan la’aan wada maqiiqnaano Mansabkeenni baa dhimanhayo mayraxdaa gubane Macna yeelanmayno dadkaa jira masaalkoode Milicsada inaan garano waa laga ma maarmaanee Marwa iyo raggeennii haddaan simanno meeqaanka La iskuma miisaami jirin meertadii hora ee Maamulkeennii baa lumahayoo wuu maroorsamiye Maskaxdii hagaysiyo waxaa jabi mishiinkiiye Milicsada inaan garano waa laga ma maarmaanee "

Haneefah Posted May 27, 2009 Gee, thanks for the reassurance, heed the advice kuye! Anigu midab-badalidna iguma jirto (though the harsh prairie weather hasn't been nice on my skin nor midab, gabdhow maxey gabdhuhu marsadaan bal ii sheega in case I reconsider this one ), nin islasimidna Allah ima badin, saa qof aad aaminsatahay inuu kaa sarreeyo ayaa la isku taxluujiyaa inaad gaadho amaba dhaafto. Dumarku waa hore ayeey duuleen, Allah caza wajal baa siiyey darajo, why come down. Maxaa kale oo hadhay? Yes, dhaqankaad gabdhaha ku bookhineysey! Isaguna muxuu ahaa bal iyara xasuusi, is it sida loo sooho masafta, ama sida sadex-dhudoodka loo xidho (ama shaash iyo guntiino, braless, half your body revealed) while singing the heelo? Mise waa fijaan dhisid? Mise waa muqmad jarid...maya, maya, it must be sida ragga cagaha loogu dhaqo oo loogu masaajeeyo, eh? Intaba iguma ogid!!! Bas khalas, I do still want a custom made fijaan from Jigjiga, even if the would-be receiver would have no clue what it is. Marka, ninyahow, gabdhaha isaga hadh waxey kuu tuhmeen bey qabaanee.
