Juan Williams is fired. Fox news is outraged.

Juan Williams said that he feels "nervous" every time he sees a Muslim on airplanes. NPR terminates his contract.

 

Conservatives are now fuming. Bill O'Rielly is rattled now that his sidekick is fired by NPR.

 

It is comedy.

Juan messed it up big time. What would be his reaction if President Bush says I feel uncomfortable when I see a group of black people... of course, his blood would hit the seal.

Good decision by NPR. It would have been an embarrassment for the public radio had they let him keep his job as President.

 

It's pure bigotry. NPR has good reputation and I'm a big fan of its programs like The Morning Edition, All Things Considered.

The irony is that npr fires Juan Williams at the same time it tries to lean more to the right. Those words were offensive and bigoted I agree, but npr had a problem with him being on Fox long before this remark come. The man played the npr's analyst on Fox News and didn't sit well with npr. Anyho, he just netted $2 mil contract with Fox News. NPR should not have used the Muslim excuse to get rid of the guy. He was on a contract and they could terminate his contract anyday of the week.

 

I am a long time listener of npr specially the Talk of the Nation program which Juan Williams anchored awhile back.

The guy is smart but his firing is justified. NPR hired him and they have the right to fire him, not only him but anyone else who doesn't represent the values and integrity of their employer.
