American Wedding Ceremonies??

Have you ever been to an American Wedding Ceremony? If you have, what are your experiences? Do friends need to bring gifts? if yes, what kind and what do you suggest personally?

 

The reason I am asking you this is that,I am Invited by a former classmate and friend to her wedding. The girl is a whit American and the guy is an Arab muslim brother even though I have never met him. They had been through hardships and difficulties when they announced their intentions of getting married and the girl's family was really opposing it simply because the guy is a Muslim but they finally agreed to at least come to their wedding. I really want to go and show my solidarity and support them since I was invited but, I have no clue of what I'm expected of as a friend and I have never been to a non-somali ceremony. I'm very cautious person and I'm little concerned about my lack of familarity in this sort of environment. I would like to have some basic knowledge pertaining to this before I attend so I dont look out of place, I am sure her family won't like to see some other blacks or Muslims at the event.

 

Obviously, what we(somalis) consider normal, might be a BIG NO NO to them. So let me know if you have some tips and informative piece about "American Wedding ceremonies"-Dos & Donts or simply your own experiences

for galo wedding stick with home stuff! i once bought my buddy a box of ... never mind! but hey,

i would give something for them to remember yah! some unique thing! like something from your culture!

 

for example, i gave this couple a somali kambad! do u know what the lady uses it for! to reach the upper cabinets! lol....! she just loves that thing! she told me that is the most stable thing she ever stoood one!! 4 real bro!!
