Geel_jire Posted August 27, 2008 this is an amusing thread ... I have noticed when a faarax gives his opinion it is being judgmental or typical somali male response or male ego but when some ladies voice similar opinions it is ok. I have a question for the ladies if i may: contrast these two scenarios with respect to some of your comments: A- the topic of this thread B- this earlier thread Notice any inconsistencies ? This is not a generalization of all my SOL sisters only the ones who afford such understanding and compassion in this case which is prostitution(to call a spade a spade) and duruuf baa haysay is no excuse baahi baa i haysa bakhti looma cuno ! The thread i linked to, the sister in question did nothing Xaram at all nevertheless she got "she deserved it" and "maca sonkor" just because she married an already married faarax ? qarxiska ma jecli lakin the irony was too much

Dhagax-Tuur Posted August 27, 2008 Why does it feel like everyone has got their head in the sand, literally? HEAR THIS: there is no a shred of a DIGNITY left for Somalis and Somalia!. We've -hit rock bottom, and there is no place rock bottomer/bottomest than where we're today. The sooner we realise the better. There are stories far worse than this one. It hasn't come out and you haven't read or seen doesn't mean they don't exist. They do.
Fabregas Posted August 27, 2008 dayusnews: quote:The bad side is that Asiza is facing trial for what the army calls “acts detrimental to the UPDF conduct and rules of procedure.” Apparently the army leadership does not want soldiers to fall in love while on foreign missions. It is proper to regulate field personnel’s conduct to ensure they do not neglect their duty, become a nuisance to the host population or commit crime. However, a complete ban on consensual sexual relationships that do not interfere with duty can be counterproductive. It can aggravate stress to the home-sick soldiers and even lead to crime such as rape and other undesirable forms of sex. Reports abound of American servicemen involved in such crimes yet they are allowed time off to socialise with hosts. The US government even has a law that unfortunately provides immunity for its servicemen who engage in crime abroad. Uganda should not take such path but its soldiers serving abroad should be allowed to be themselves – unless, of course, they are threatening other people’s marriages, luring school girls or abandoning duty to look for lovers. It appears UPDF soldiers are either charming or more financially empowered while on foreign missions that they quickly catch the eyes of their female hosts. Those who went to DR Congo returned with partners and they seem to have settled down well. This is how it should be. Only those who deny their blood or put love above duty are at fault.
