There are major differences between the two situations.

 

1) A young woman in a war-torn nation falls in love with a medic at the hospital where her father was treated.

 

2) A divorced older woman living in comfort secretly marries a man with a wife and eight children, knowing that his first wife is unaware.

 

The scope of harm in the first case is limited to the young woman, her lover and their child. In the second case you have additional victims, and there were no extenuating circumstances. If, for example, she married him because she had no food or shelter for her children, I'm sure the ladies would've been more sympathetic.
