Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted April 28, 2006 Salaan... Horta qoraalkii kor ku qornaa caadooyinka si fiican uma faah faahin. For example, Dabshidka si fiican faah faahin ma ugu bixin. Marka I will add a few words. Dabshidka is our new year; it correspondences in late Luuliyo [July], between 20 and 25th of Luuliyo. Note, it happens at the end of spring, and where jiilaal starts. A kinda like baroordiiq for the just departed gu'ga [spring]. We share this with ancient Persians, present day Iiraan. They call it Neyruush [or Neyruus, as the folks up North call it their version of Dabshidka]. So, Dabshidka is our ancient fireworks, which we mastered long before the West realized it. For Istunka, the participants believe they need to do it, otherise upcoming year's harvest won't be that abundant. Note, it only happens where farming is possible, such as Shabeellaha Hoose. As opposed to Dabshidka, which is universal to Soomaalis, Istunka isn't. Getting ready for Istunka at Afgooye in Luuliyo, 2004.
