Nehanda Posted September 21, 2007 Next time, switch the record on your mobile phone, slip it in your pocket and let the conversation be taped. At least then you would have evidence on your side.

Che -Guevara Posted September 21, 2007 Caano Geel....I admit it is very broad range and will hardly yeild any information that's qualitatively useful and relevant today's pressing issues. Having said that, it is hard to assume common variable among such diverse group of people. And this is where narrowing who is terrorist gets little murky as potential recruits span Muslims from walks of life. And only other option is to eavesdrop on citizens which I believe the States do that already. Infact that piece of legistation giving the goverment the authority to listen people's conversation is about to expire, and most likely will be renewed. Anyway, in today's America patriotic suasion is the order of the day, and the neo cons abuse that to the fullest given the gullible nature of the Yanks. NGONGE Posted September 21, 2007 ^^^ Though the logic of fear is understandable, the laws of these lands give one the freedom to contest such racist profiling. Having said that, they only do so when one believes they have been singled out in an unfavourable and unfair way. Having seen Khayer’s wild exaggerations I tend to take his words mostly with a pinch of salt. Maybe if it were someone else I would have been bothered to wax lyrical about the unfairness of it all. Blessed Posted September 22, 2007 ^LOL! Leave Khayr alone... That is a profession of morons. I think school bullies grow up to become policemen. When I went to Holland, my cousin and I were stopped and shouted at by Dutch police who demanded that they see our papers..papers? What papers, I don't have papers! The police in Yorkshire are a special case, they shamelessly target Somalis. My aunt who was coming from qiyaam last Ramadan was stopped and quizzed about where she was coming from going and had her car checked and they were like, 'well your a Muslim driving around in the middle of the night, I hope you understand our concerns'....
N.O.R.F Posted September 23, 2007 Look what happened in my old home town! A place I have been stopped on no less than 15 times (some of them justifiable ) Councillor's gun arrest ordeal By Amy Burns A SHEFFIELD councillor was arrested at gunpoint by armed police and locked up in a cell before being released without charge. Coun Mazher Iqbal, Sheffield Council's cabinet advisor for safety, was stoppedwhile travelling in a taxi along Birley Moor Road, Frecheville, with five friends. Armed officers with police dogs ordered the group out of the car and told them they were under arrest. Among the group was 28-year-old Mohammed Hafiz, a Labour candidate for the Nether Edge ward. "When we were stopped we were actually out helping MP Clive Betts with some leafleting," said Mohammed. "Suddenly we were surrounded by guns and police dogs and officers shouting. "I was absolutely terrified." The men - Mohammed, Mazher, Irfan Khan, 25, Javid Khan, 27, Vakaf Khan, 23, and 24-year-old Imran Khan - were split up and taken to two different police stations after being arrested on Thursday evening. Three were taken to Bridge Street police station and three, including Coun Iqbal, were taken to Moss Way station. The men assumed they had been mistaken for terrorists - but they later found out it was an alleged robbery at Park Hill Flats. Coun Iqbal was arrested, then released without charge, twice - once for the robbery and for a public order offence. He said: "I was arrested at gunpoint with five friends and I was kept in custody and released without charge. "This was a case of mistaken identity. "Chief Supt Jon House, District Commander for Sheffield, has apologised to me and my colleagues. While I understand that the police have to follow up all lines of enquiry, I am very concerned about the way I was treated. "I was arrested twice on unfounded charges." Coun Iqbal has already had a meeting with senior police officers and says he intends to meet with them again in two weeks. "It was absolutely terrifying," said Irfan. "I am still terrified now just thinking about it. I have never been in trouble in my life and all of sudden I was surrounded by guns and dogs." Mohammed added: "We were detained for about four and a half hours and in that time I don't think they even asked us our names." "If this is the way they treat the city's councillors I dread to think how they treat everyone else - it is worrying." A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Three men were arrested on suspicion of robbery at Parkhill Flats. "Following further inquiries they were all released without charge. "Subsequently, one of the three men was involved in an altercation with police officers and was arrested for a public order offence. He was later released without charge." What do you think? LayZie G. Posted September 23, 2007 However, this time around it was Driving while being Black and Muslim ! I can't see myself sympathizing with you on this incident. First and foremost, how did you reach the conclusion that this was religion and race profiling? The officer who stopped you was within his right to question you because you probably have a name such as ahmed ahmed, or mohamed ahmed, and there was a similar match that popped up and that particular mohamed had problems with immigration. At this point in time, the cop has no choice but to question you because he doesn't know you from adam, so why shouldn't he not only question you but to further inquire about this mess that your first and last name created for you. The man was doing his job, nothing racial about it. Did he pull you off the car and search you? Did he beat you up? Did he search your car without explanation? So, how is that profiling your race and religion khayr?
Che -Guevara Posted September 23, 2007 NGONE and Lazy...let's not discount or trivialise what Khayr went through. I'm sure it was truamutising and humiliating in its own way
