Chimera Posted December 30, 2007 No those are real images, i posted them because Western media likes to paint this image of China that is covered in smoke and dust yet at the same time the US(25% - GHG contributor) is a shiny clean pearl

Chimera Posted December 30, 2007 It's not magic you only need 'stability' and a group of 'up to date' economists managing the economy Take for example Pinochet's Chile -Brutality,torture,backwardness,economy in shambels,Dictatorship. A group of Expat Chilean economists return after the ousting of the Dictator and look at present day Chile- Steady growth, better standard of living etc Santiago If you look at pre-civil war Mogadishu,Somalia put a few skyscrapers(100m-400m$) here and there and you have a Jinan or a Shenzhen, again it's not magic just ask the Lebanese
Chimera Posted April 14, 2008 (Murjan Tower on the far left) The Murjan City Tallest Tower is a supertall skyscraper planned to be built in Bahrain. The project owner is a Swedish company, with Henning Larsens Tegnestue A/S, Denmark, as the architect. The tallest tower is currently planned to be 1,022 m high, which is significantly higher than any skyscraper standing today. However, a planned completion date of the project has not yet been set. This 9.3 million square metre edifice aims to be "the most luxurious ever built", and is also intended to contain what the developer considers the world's largest shopping mall. Murjan Tower I think such ultra-mega skycrapers are perfect for China with it's large population
Paragon Posted April 14, 2008 ^China's something. They are not only giving rise to great cities but they also have a funny sense of homour I greatly love. Lol. 'High for a night, slow for a month' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO0YmE-_yRE

Koora-Tuunshe Posted April 15, 2008 Guys, don't be deceived by these towers. What if they are Corporate offices in partnership with Government Halls? The glimmer of City skylines are mostly illusion and does not capture the socio-economic condition of majority of the people.
