Another thread about Music..

Recommended Posts

NGONGE

On that Qutting Music thread, Marx made a comment about how Music affects his moods. At the time, I have to admit that I viewed it as just another of Marx's tongue-in-cheek comments. But I have changed my mind now and find myself fully agreeing with him. :D

Still, this thread is not about how music helped change my mood. This is a thread about WOMEN'S MUSIC.

It all started on the train this morning. There I was sitting on the end seat and reading my paper in peace, when a young Asian girl came and sat next to me. She had her headphones on and the sound was on full blast. The first song I (very clearly) heard was 'All By Myself' by that annoying Canadian woman who did the sound track to that film about the ship that sank. The second song was this:

Early in the morning

I put breakfast at your table

And make sure that your coffee

Has its sugar and cream

Your eggs are over easy

Your toast done lightly

All that's missing is your morning kiss

That used to greet me

Now you say the juice is sour

It used to be so sweet

And I can't help but to wonder

If you're talking 'bout me

We don't talk the way we used to talk

It's hurtin' so deep

I've got my pride, I will not cry

But it's makin' me weak

I'm not your superwoman

I'm not the kind of girl that you can let down

And think that everything's okay

Boy, I am only human

This girl needs more than occasional

Hugs as a token of love from you to me, ooh, baby

I fought my way through the rush hour

Trying to make it home just for you

I want to make sure that your dinner

Will be waiting for you

But when you get there you just tell me

You're not hungry at all

You said you'd rather read the paper

And you don't want to talk

You like to think that I'm just crazy

When I say that you changed

I'm convinced I know the problem

You don't love me the same

You're just going through the motions

And you're not being fair

I've got my pride, I will not cry

Still I can't help but care

The third song was not that much better. It was Tyrone by Erikah Badu and went like this:

I'm gettin' tired of your sh*t

You don't never buy me nothin'

See Everytime you come around

You got to bring Jim, James, Paul, & Tyrone

See why can't we be by ourselves, sometimes

See I've been having this on my mind

For a long time

I just want it to be

You and me

Like It used to be, Baby

But ya don't know how to act

So matter of fact....

The fourth song was Gloria Gaynor's I will survive. Luckily, I had to get off the train before being assulted with the fifth song.

You can of course guess what my mood was like by the time I got off that train. But, all this got me wondering about women and music. Is there an actual genre called 'women's music'? What sort of songs do they have other than the four monstrosities above? Are they all complaints? Do they really have to put their everyday way of speaking in lyric format? :D

Can you think of any similar lyrics?

Bloody women.

:D lool

I think music makes people imagine things that are not there and the shitan really uses it to get into peoples head. In particular I think love songs brainwash people into something which does not sit well with reality- they end up with crazy expectations which borders on worshiping someone and visa verse and the complaint songs make normal everyday problems huge and the hate songs feed off people's anger and create a mounting out of dust. :D

Now breakup songs I hate the most- they make people sit around all depressed, looking to the shitty past which suddenly becomes all about the magical days- even though really it was mundane and boring, but somehow the past becomes something impossible to attain, the future appears bleak and the present like dogs world. This is followed by the survival songs- which are just as bad and contradictor.

So really I think people should avoid music at all times, particularly, if they are happy, sad, heartbroken or angry. :D

I was forced to listen to MJ many times by suited men who keep tapping the damn feet on the train- like they are going to break into a dance in moment now. :D

Because my dear old man Cheverly is wasted on you. The woman in question was clearly in a state of distress and you failed to help her. Mind you the opportunity was on the 1/2song. If you would have attempted anything on the ¾ am sure she would have chewed your head off. Nonetheless you have failed.

Ibti- come on, music is food for the soul, caters to every occasion and mood. Lifts you up if need be, and taps into many other emotions that one goes throw ones life.

As for break-up songs; my dear it’s a graduation process, look at the list the old man posted. The woman started with all by myself, then moved to am not your super-woman, then to Tyrone …then I will survive, I’m sure the 5th song would have been something along the lines of independent women.

^^^Music just makes people emotional and irrational. The women needs to stop being so self absorbed and get on with life, I'm seriously how selfish and self pity is not a good trait. All that calcal over some dude.

Now they have song lyrics that don't make sense

Kitchen music is different, Faheema. It usually is Somali and it almost always is exactly the stuff you hear in weddings. Sometime in years to come, some scientist is going to conduct a research on the link between such music and clean dishes.

NG, couldn't you simply change seats? Or you were enjoying the muustiko as much as the young lady, runta noo sheeg? :D

Here's one of my fav pissed as a mothalover song:

While he was scheming

I was beamin' in the beamer just beamin'

can't believe that I caught my man cheating

so I found another way to make him pay for it all

So I went to Neiman-Marcus on a shopping spree-ah

And on the way I grabbed Soley and Mia

And as the cash box rang I

thought everything away

{Chorus}

(0ops)

there goes the dreams we used to say

(oops)

there goes the time we spented away

(oops)

there goes the love we had

but you cheated on me and that's For THAT now

(oops)

there goes the house we made a home

(oops)

there goes you'll never leave me alone

(oops)

for all the lies you told this is what you owe

Hey Ladies,

when your man wanna get buck wild

just go back and hit 'em up style

put your hands on his cash and

spend it to the last dime for all the hard times

oh

when your cold and everything goes

from the crib, to the ride and the clothes

so you better let him know that

if you mess up

you gotta hit 'em up

While he was braggin

I was comin' down the hill uh just-a draggin'

all of his pictures and his clothes in the baggin

I sold eveything else til there was just nothing left

and I paid all the bills about a month too late

It's a shame we have to play these games

the love we had just faded away, away

(oops and chorus)

All of the dreams you sold

left me out in the cold

What happened to the days when we used to trust each other

And all of the things I sold

Will take you until you get old

To get 'em back without me

Cause revenge is better than money you'll see

I always like naag cadkeeda goosato, not so much kuwa baroorto!

NGONGE, Somali songs have more calaacal than the english ones, they're more dramatic with such lyrics as....

"hurdo kama bogtoo barkin baan ku tiirshaa boga iyo calooshee beerkaan u seexdaa barbarada ma qabanaayee anigoo burburayoo dhinacyadu i barareen waagu ii bariistee"
