Jumatatu Posted February 24, 2005 About two weeks ago a Somali mother of eight chidren was travelling to Dubai from Heathrow.In the security check-in a sharp object was detected in her handbag. The Heathrow security who are very suspicious of any item that is sharp pointed asked her to explain. After she told them that it was an important item hat she uses to beautyfy her nails they accepted the reason but for security reasons confisticated the item. As the search prolonged they found in her possesion over $21,000 in cash. Now this raised eyebrows. Once again asked to explain the findings in her handbag. The lady said she was a businesswoman on a trip to Dubai to buy carpets,sofas,etc.. for trading. Ok, they accepted her, again, excuse at face-value, and saw her as someone who probably did not want to pay or trusts the Bank transfer charge. After all they found no reason to suspect a mother of eight children all under 13. As the searched continued the handbag revealed more that it was meant to, inside it were letters of correpondence from the Borough Benefit Office in which the lady resides.Suprise suprise and also the benefit book she uses to cash her welfare everyweek were also in the handbag. This warranted her to be detained for further investigation. After a serious of questioning the lady revealed that it was not her money but that of three businessmen who had no means of travel to trade from Dubai, and that she was merely a carrier. She gave the name of three Faraxs. The three men were contacted and admitted the money was theirs and were asked to come and claim it. And so they did. Poor guys they probably thought the whole incident will be over once they claimed it. They did not expect their World to be turned upside down and every aspect of them to be put through microcospic search. True as they claimed they were businessmen and in between them owned two Internet Cafes in North London. Not only that was discovered though. The new revelation was that all of them were also recipients of Welfare allowance also. And yes one of them was the husband of the lady. You will get an extra point if you guessed that they were separated( at least in welfare-allowance terms) since their third child and yet managed to father five more from her. The case is still bending and under investigation before it is brought to the courts of law.
