Iffah Posted September 27, 2002 Hey Girlfrom.. First of all WELCOME! As to your dilemma... Why would anyone gasp when they see your style? You don't happen to dress like those gothics do you? If not then, I don't see why anyone would be that surprised. Not all Somalis dress modestly these days. Btw, most of the people on this site, grew up outside of somalia...and went to school with the white people like you, but they still managed to keep their Culture & Diin. I'm not implying that you have lost yours. Gotta run.. TTUL
Ariadne Posted September 28, 2002 It seems to me the somalis that gasp when they see you acting "white" because of the non ghetto mentality are suffering from stereotypical point of views such as the whole to be black you gotta dress wearing loose pants only into urban music and of course the crowning touch of ebonics. Well no offense but thats bulls#*t its putting people into categoeris and saying those certain type of people act and do this and only this and we should know better after all these years especialy since now that its 2002! SomaliaOnline-President Posted September 28, 2002 Ya know i really wished i had something interesting to say in this thread----but i always sit here starring the blank monitor trying to think something interesting to say. hmmm but somalians will never get me they think i am the wack girl that tries to act like the white people. The trick is to never care about what other people think of you. That could really drive a soul over the edge. Just sigh their criticism and move on. Life is too short about worrying about SELF-Image.

Libaax-Sankataabte Posted September 28, 2002 Girl, I am surprised that Somalis are looking at ya for dressing "whitey" ... if anything that is what our elders appreciate more compared to the ghetto look. If you are specifically refering to young Somalis, I would just tell you to be YOURSELF and not worry about what the frustrated next girl says. Ghetto, Whitey, Somali or which ever way you dress, there will always be somebody out there who will find it "strange". Welcome to Somalia Online

Many somali men, normally choose to marry ladies who are modest and mature.People who have religion in their daily life.
