Malika Posted July 7, 2008 MMA,I know someone called Boosteyo, never asked them the meaning,I just assume it was a naneeys as the whole family have some interesting names. Now,I like Gurxan..What is the meaning behind this name?
Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted July 7, 2008 Yes, Malika, Boosteeyo is a naaneys, inkastoo kuwa caadi loo dhaho arkay. I think it is originated from a Talyaani word for post, postale (?) The central bus station in Xamar la dhihi jiray boosteeyo. Reer Baradho ma maqashay waligaa as well? I remembered them because wiilkooda la dhihi jiray Bistoole Baradho. They were a family neighbour back home in Xamar.
Ashkiro Posted July 7, 2008 Actually, what I've been told at least, Boosteeyo is a given name and not just a neeynaas. This name (and there are others-i just don't remember them) is usually given to girls that are "not wanted" yacni the family was expecting a boy but rather a girl was born. I already have the names for my kids picked out (Inshallah) and my future husband has no SAY whatsoever- I will name them after my grandparents inshallah: Ashkiro (Allahu Rahmah) and Warsame. Geel_jire Posted July 7, 2008 I remember this fellow with the most unusual name .. I thought it was a joke but all 4 of his names are like that no naanays included. Buutey (firstname), Bidaaye (father), dhaga-deele(grand),tuur-xume (great-grand) let's see anyone beat ^ for unique
