^He meant a different kind of offensive meaning! Dooro is just not the same when you're up north. Perhaps, Northern or JB can break it down further.

Need some help with some somali words here too. I was asked to test the language skills(somali) of some Somali kids in lower secondary, but the texts (essays) provided contain words that I've never heard of. Words like;

Wasaasin ama bareello and Nijaar (Is it a carpenter?)

And what do you call these tools in Somali; Screwdriver, saw, a hammer, chimney and a nail (not cidida).

Thanks.

‘U codeey’ sounds best, I liked Che’s translation.

Screwdriver has the funkiest Somali translation = kajawiito (somehow that doesn’t sound very Somali, also I think we make up our own words in our household).

^I always thought,screwdriver was called bismis,the kajawiito sound Japanese..Lol

We too did make up our own Somali words,as long as they sounded Somali that is.I remember we used to add daa,gaa or kaa at the end of name of items to make them sound Somali..Like Kijikada[kijiko=spoon in swahili] :D
