Two suspects of London bombings refugees of Eritrea and Somalia

 

Omar, a legal British resident for more than a decade, is suspected of attempting to blow up a subway train near Warren Street station last Thursday.

 

The man suspected to trying to bomb a London bus last week is an Eritrean-born British citizen, and a second suspect in the attempted attacks is an immigrant from Somalia, the government said Tuesday.

 

Muktar Said Ibrahim, 27, who is suspected of trying to bomb a bus last Thursday, is a naturalised British citizen from Eritrea, the Home Office said.

 

It was not immediately clear exactly when Said, also known as Muktar Mohammed Said, emigrated to Britain but he was granted residency in 1992 when he was 14, a spokeswoman said, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.

 

Said applied for citizenship in November 2003 and was issued a British passport in September 2004, she said. It was not known whether he retained his Eritrean citizenship as well, she said.

 

Yasin Hassan Omar, 24, arrived in Britain from Somalia in 1992 at age 11, the Home Office said.

 

Omar, a legal British resident for more than a decade, is suspected of attempting to blow up a subway train near Warren Street station last Thursday.

 

Both men came to Britain as the dependants of refugees.

As much as I hate the idea of Somalis even contemplating suicide bombing, it is not out of the question some of us are capable of it. Several years ago, a man kniffed a policewoman and the media was quick to judge and say the man was Somali. After few days, it turned out that the man was Sudanese who claimed asylum as Somali. Personally, I cannot buy the news that a Somali will strap a bomb around his waist and blast himself off, alongside other innocent people. It is not because we Somalis are at all good moralists, but its because we are number one cowards when it comes to doing such things as blowing ourselves up. It is not a Somali tradition nor is it a late tendency, nor has there been a suicide bombing that took place within Somalia during all the 15 years the civil war raged.

Ladia, your statement of “Hey isn't that, ina so and so." applies equally to all Somali people, regardless of whichever part of Somalia (meaning all Somali territories whether it’s the Somali Republic, Djibouti, Western Somalia, or NFD) he/she is from whether he is from, so don’t be racist or clannish, because being racist or clannish will make you to differentiate between Somali people negatively for no obvious reason.
