Somaliland: President Muse Bihi Receives EU Envoy

President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, received today the new European Union Envoy to Somaliland and Somalia, Ambassador Nicolás Berlanga Martinez.

The President welcomed the new envoy to Somaliland and the region. Both parties discussed areas of mutual interests, including good governance, democratic elections, security, development and the plight of migrants in the Horn of Africa.

The issue of the upcoming parliamentary and local elections in Somaliland scheduled for December 12, 2019 and the EU’s funding of these elections were extensively discussed.

The progress of EU funded projects in Somaliland were also among the topics discussed in the meeting between President Muse Bihi Abdi and the EU envoy, Nicolas Berlanga Martinez.
