Somaliland: The Weak FGS Fails In Bid To Block Commercial Cargo In Saudi Arabia

The vessel carrying approximately 20,000 head of livestock has been given permission to dock at the port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and unload it’s cargo.

After the weak and inept federal administration in Mogadishu failed to block the docking of the ship in Jeddah.

The livestock is destined for the Hajj pilgrimage and was bought by the Islamic Bank and a group of independent Saudi merchants. It was not a purchase by the Saudi government.

The weak and inept federal administration in Mogadishu attempted to force the Somaliland authorities to issue a “letter of origin”, not from Somaliland, where the livestock was reared, gathered and shipped, but from Somalia instead.

This was rejected and now in order to try and salvage a sliver of dignity from this fiasco, the FGS are peddling a new narrative for local and international consumption, that it was they who freed the ship!

However, nobody is buying this.
