Salaan...

Watching this song video clip from late 1980s reminded me waayo waayo, walaahi.

This Talyaani guy [i think he was half Soomaali] singing in Soomaali [actually, he was lip-syncing, where the real Soomaali singer was behind the scene] at Curuba brings fond memories. Marmar ayee telafashinka Xamar kasoo saari jireen.

The song, a combination of Maay and Maxaatiri words, is about some people's love for this world and everything in it.

Its lyrics, if I am not mistaken, goes:

Diinleeya [adale]

Diinleeya [adale]

Diinleeya [adale]

Diinleeya [adale]

Diinleeya [adale]

Adduunyadaan la deeri la waayee

Deeqi iyo maal

Darajo lan [nin] diido la waayee

Malagii ni dili jiray sidiisiyo

Ii

Aakhiro lan doona la waayee

Diinleeya [adale]

Diinleeya [adale]

I duleysadee

I duleysadee

Caashaquun i duleysadee

Alle i daawee

_______________

Diinleeya, as is in googaa, is presaid when one is going to ask a big philosophical question; adale is cadale.

Baluug

Well, you can definitely tell this video is from the 80's. This guy looks like a fat Michael Bolton. I thought the dancing kid was cute until I looked a little closer and I realized it was a midget!!
