New York Times “Trump Orders Strike On Iran, Then Flip-flops”

According the New York Times, President Donald Trump ordered a retaliation attack on Iran, after a US Drone was allegedly shot down over the Straits of Homuz by Iran.
However, according the newspaper, the President changed his mind when US fighter jets entered Iranian airspace.

There was has been no official comment from the United States government, however, recent noises coming from the White House and the Trump administration have been quite belligerent towards Iran.

After the US Drone was shot down over the Straits of Hormuz, President Trump met with his State Secretary, Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor, John Botlon, to formulate a response to the alleged downing of the $130 million intelligence gathering Drone.

The Speaker of the House of Representative, Nancy Pelosi, has stated that the United States of America should not rush into a conflict with Iran, and the Trump administration should explore all diplomatic channels to try and defuse the situation.

The Straits of Hormuz and the Arabian Sea have recently seen a spate of attacks on merchant ships by unknown protagonist, with all sides accusing each other of these attacks.
