Two loud blasts were heard in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Saturday, as the police set up extra checkpoints in the city to avert Al-Shabaab attacks.

The first attack occurred after a car packed with explosives detonated at a main security checkpoint near the country’s parliament compound.

Minutes later, a second blast took place in the vicinity of K-4 junction, close to the security checkpoint leading to the city’s airport.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for both attacks.
