Laba-X Posted January 12, 2007 Isn't this guy buried in Baydhabo or somewhere near it. The Sayyid said to him after he killed him something along the lines of... dulmiguu falaayaa aweys loogu dow galaye...

Some of the people who make the annual siyaaro claim 7 siyaaro equals haj (subhanallah). It's worth to note this siyaaro bid'ah was introduced to Somalis by the colonialists. All those owliyo or dead sheikhs whom the people make siyaaro lived or died during the colonial times. If you know of an owliyo or sheikh who become owliyo in pre-colonial times, let me know. The purpose? To pacify Somalis, to make them submissive, and most important propagate to them the concept of fatalism (not resisting invasion/occupation, resigning to your fate, Muslims are meant to suffer and live miserable life while Gaalos are meant to prosper, iwm). winnie Posted January 14, 2007 why would muslims/somalis believe anything a nonmuslim says about islam? in terms of teaching them a ritual? and to top it off an intruder (colonial power)? im more inclined to believe the colonialist helped promote this practice, i doubt they invented it.
