Old_Observer Posted June 3, 2019 At least some are getting somewhere. Soon we will see containers from Somaliland all over Kililka. Please keep some unclaimed empties for us. Some of the markings on the containers are from large shipping companies as per the markings. Most likely sorting based on different ports sequence. Suldaanka Posted June 3, 2019 Previously if you wanted to ship something i.e. your car to Berbera. You had to ship it to Djibouti or Dubai first and then from there, it would be transferred to Berbera. But now, I can just arrange the car to be loaded right from my house into a container and it will arrive in 4-6 weeks in Berbera.
Old_Observer Posted June 4, 2019 Life is not fair. Do you realize you are already benefiting from the Iran-US/Arab fracas? Next to Djibouti Berebra will be the only port capable to deal with todays normal shipping other than Port Sudan and Mombassa which are far away from the action. Since UAE will not use Djibouti, Berbera is the only port. I hate to wish any ill on anyone, but if the Persian Gulf closes for any length of time..Berbera will be the empire overnight. Poor Yemen taken out of the game. 1
Suldaanka Posted June 6, 2019 The naysayers will keep on barking from the sidelines, but this caravan is in full steam ahead.
Old_Observer Posted June 12, 2019 Give military bases now to Russia, America, Saudia, Britania, Japan...and will have peace as well. If they are more than one and especially don't like each other, then you don't loose respect or sovereignty.

Old_Observer Posted June 18, 2019 How is the Somaliland portion organized. Is there a public corporation, agency, authority or is just some ministry taking care of this activity?

Mourad1 Posted December 14, 2019 Aw guuriyo Maamulka Somaliland. There is nothing better to see a Somali region making progress. Hopefully, Somaliland will not limit itself to its internal market and makes Somalis across the region utilize the facilities.
Suldaanka Posted December 14, 2019 Indeed. That is the plan, for Berbera to resume its role as regional hub for trade and commerce which it lost to Djibouti after 1960s disastrous failed union with Ex-Italian Somalia. There are plans to use Air Cargo to deliver goods using the newly refurbished Berbera Airport to the landlocked states of South Sudan and Uganda, at more competitive rates than Kenya is offering. Container carrying trucks from Berbera Port await at Puntland's Buuro Wadal checkpoint. These trucks are tax exempted in Somaliland as the goods are destined in neighbouring Somalia/Puntland. Only standard handling and forwarding fees were paid.

In fact, it is the most scrutinised deal ever. An easy serach will fetch the results you need. Anyway, in comparison, no one actually know what the Turkish deal is with Mogdaishu' main port. No one knows how long the deal is and is involved.
