Somaliland: Reports Of Police Officer Killed In Las Anod

Reports are coming in of the killing of one police officer and the wounding of another at the RRU barracks in Las Anod. The killing occurred after an exchange of gunfire in the compound between members of the Somaliland Police Force’s anti-riot squad, the RRU.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the one fatality and the wounded officer came from the same community, and the attack appears to be a retaliation for the killing of two other Somaliland officers near the town of Garadag earlier this month.

Neither the Somaliland Police Force nor the ministry of the Home Affairs have yet to comment on the situation.

Somaliland will be celebrating it’s 28th anniversary of the reclamation of sovereignty on the 18th of a May, with dignitaries from several foreign nations attending the celebrations.
