Saudi Arabia: Oil pipeline attacked by drones

Dubai: Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al Falih said on Tuesday that two oil pumping stations for the East-West pipeline had been hit by explosive-laden drones, calling the attack “an act of terrorism” that targeted global oil supplies

Falih said that Saudi oil output and exports for crude and refined products were continuing without disruption, but that the state oil giant Aramco had halted oil pumping in the pipeline while the damage was evaluated and the stations were repaired, according to a statement carried by the state news agency SPA.

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al Falih in a statment said “Two pumping stations on a major Saudi oil pipeline were attacked by drones on Tuesday, halting the flow of crude along it,”

The two pumping stations bombed belong to Saudi Aramco, forcing the state oil company to suspend operations in the area to assess what the kingdom said was ‘limited’ damage.

The stations are linked to a pipeline transporting oil from fields in the eastern sector to the port of Yanbu on the western coast, state-run Saudi Press Agency reported, citing the Energy Ministry.

Earlier, a television station run by Yemen’s Houthi group said on Tuesday the Iran-aligned movement had launched drone attacks on Saudi installations, without identifying the targets or time of the attacks.
