Somaliland: Information Minister Verbally Attacks Waddani’s Cirro

Hargeisa,(Qaran news)-The Somaliland Information minister, Mohamed Muse Dirie, taking a page from his predecessor, Abdirahman Abdillahi “Guri’Barwaqo” gave an interview in which he verbally attacked the chair of Waddani, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Cirro” in language rarely heard from a senior official.

The new minister, formerly from the Home Office, accused the chair of Waddani “of still being sore about losing the last presidential elections by 80 thousands votes, whilst former president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud “Silanyo” accepted a loss on less than 80 votes”. The minister also stated that the “parliamentary and local elections will take place and if Waddani candidates want to take part, they should do so under the umbrella of either Kulmiye and UCID”.

The administration of President Muse Bihi Abdi has seen the post of information minister occupied by two men, who are close the president, and are not known for their discretion, deftness and verbal control, traits which are essential for a post which seriously influences the national mood.

In other parts of the world, the post of information minister is given to educated and articulate people in order to get your message across, it is not currently the case in Somaliland. The last Somaliland minister of this post who gave a good account of himself or herself, was Abdillahi Mohamed Duale from the Dahir Rayale Kahin administration.
