Why not? Instead of relying on used garbage from the troublesome UAE, our business people should import new cars from South Korea and other places, because our cash is as good as anyone else's. Cut the middle man.  This is what the country needs.

Having said that, I am not a fan of Dahabshiil monopoly. It would have been nice to see other Somaliland investors take the lead on this.

I agree with that. Dahabshiil should model itself after Goldman Sacks and focus on money and all its forms of trade.

Great news, Now THEY have to lobby government and ban right hand drive cars.

Estimates are majority of cars wrong  , so another solutions is change road rules ,with many countries adapted this and changed road rules to make useof second hand cars.

Instead of banning right-handed cars, I think the gov't should switch sides. Make the country left-hand drive roads so right-handed cars are able to function as designed.

This is not good investment, it will just take hard earned money to South Korea. This may become white elephant business if they can not sell enough new cars to justify this huge investment. The company is in trouble in the telephone business and is under performing in their money transfer business  inside Somalia.

 Somali businessman are basically traders and middle man. Instead of building hotels or importing luxury items, they could invest in agriculture, fishing, small scale manufacturing etc.

Well, people will always be buying cars. That is a fact.

This is not for everyday people, it is for people who can afford to buy landcruisers and other luxury cars. And there are a lot of them in Somaliland these days. The poor got poorer, and the middle class is got richer and more wealthier. 

For those who can afford such a car, it is better for them to buy from local dealership which will give them both service and warranty guarantee.

There is room for 1 or 2 more competitors in this space.
