Suldaanka Posted April 6, 2019 In what seems to be a reply of Mogadishu 1991, is playing out in Libya's capital Tripoli. General Khalid Haftar's forces have entered Tripoli this morning and have cut off the Airport from the city. Prime Minister Fayez has control of the main port. And the two sides are preparing for an all out war. It is most likely will end up dividing the city into two much like Aided and Mahdi.
galbeedi Posted April 6, 2019 It really shows how hopeless is the UN. After eight years they couldn't bridge the gab or build a united LIbyan army. Suldaanka, This is not Somalia, General KHaliifa will win this battle easily. THe Wahabis and others who are masters of chaos could not agree on anything. Unfortunately, this general will be another Arab despot financed by the gul and will rule with iron fes. The Libyan people are tired of anarchy and factions. They would welcome a ruthless general who will bring order. Rather having different groups loot their resources, they will have one dictator controlling the purse. Some reports indicate that if election is held in LIbya the Son of Khadaafi might even win. He already took over 3/4 of the country. Folks the era of general Khaliifa has begun. Do not be decieved by the large swaths of empty quater that General Haftar controls. The only centre outside his Tobruk base is Benghazi, the second capital of Libya. Tripoli will be a headache for the General as it is much bigger and much more diverse than the others. Also the two other opposition centres of Misrata and Sirte will be a hard fight. Both cities have well armed well financed groups. Latest news are saying Misrata melitia are moving to Tripoli as well to take their own slice of the pie. (https://www.libyaobserver.ly/news/libyas-misrata-based-forces-move-secure-tripoli-and-thwart-haftars-attack) My take is that, the general will be repulsed back from Tripoli. He is betting on Zintani melitia to provide him enough support to gain foothold in the capital.

This is exactly comparison in way when Aydeed was sent to modish. However this was designed to stop the UN confers. He will never get support and votes to be the president of Libiya. Agree, but these paradises should know what ever goes up, must come down. Its the way down that needs to be managed and dictators are worst at managing it. Dictators and kings like Marcos of Philipines, Haileslasye Ethiopia, do not know when how to quit and pass on to their progeny. The prime minister is now using the same card Gadafi tried to use. Refugees. The prime minister is saying there are 1 million refugees.
