I think each town and city in Somalia will have different prices, they will be all similar or near prices when we use the AVERAGE price,

 

 

greaat to know though, many people still don't know that,

 

the fuel is much cheaper there than where we are, is double that amount

1000 somali shillings = 3 lollipops/a chewing gum packet/3 small biscuits

 

3000 shillings = 1 plastic comb (you kno them big ones for mad hair)

 

200 thousand shillings (bac-weyn) = expensive catar to be more precise >a large bottle al-baquur/a pair of nice shoes from Bakaaro market,

 

200-300 (bac-weyn) thousand shillings = maaro to make baati/saako out of, the sewing price not included

 

10 U.S Dollars = latest fashion jilbaab str8 from Dubai(taliban style) also found at Bakaaro market

^50 thousand shillings = indha-shareer to match new jilbaab

 

60 - 80 Dollars = average price for the rent of a 4 bedroom house + its own daash/+kitchen& large sitting room>villa style

 

$20 = average monthly electricity

 

5-10 dollars = almost clean water from a tap/monthly or weekly i'm not sure, don't quote me on this

before i forget...

 

1 baquet style but shorter piece of bread (yuum) freshly baked to eat dillac bilaash with = 1000 shillings.

 

1000 shillings also gets you a bag of 3 massive ice cubes.

 

nutella chocolate spread = 2-3 dollars (now thats really expesive)

 

detol/dis-infectant = around 2-4 dollars

 

wrigleys chewing-gum (with all the flavours)= close to 1 dollar, its imported the price is unbelievably high for a this brand chewing gum, you can jus as easilly enjoy 7 sticks of gum somali/arab made for 1000 shillings and it tastes just as good.

 

Somali made coca-cola/fanta ect... = 3000 shillings, 5000 if you taking the drink home (2000 shillings for the glass bottle), but if you take back the bottle they pay yu back 2000 shillings for each returned bottle

Thanks Libaax for the up date, Things are much much cheaper than here in the west....

 

Great to see this..Waa kanaqayso lol..o yep I know seems very cheap in here but folks back don't have the dollars it should be very expensive to them I can guess that.....Overall good price compared to other African countries..

 

PS. I got mixed up with Somali shilings, hell it's confusing too Millions what the heck is that...I was just looking at dollars.

 

Hope the value of our currency will be back to it's glory days..
