Queen Arawello Posted July 14, 2008 I believe that us women shouldn't have to work, I know alot of people would disgree but everyones entitled to their own opinion..heres mine Firstly, Islam has spared women the burden of having to work to earn a living, and has made it obligatory on her father, brothers, husband or other male relative to support her. Alahmdulila i've always had my dad and male relatives to support me and yes I know not everyone is in the same situation as me, some girls want to work before they get married, but I dont understand why?..If her community needs her to work in a specialised area such as befits her feminine nature and will not compromise her honour or religion then by all means GO AHEAD or if there is pressing financial need due to the lack of a relative or spouse to maintain her honourably. As for after marrige, I def believe that a women shouldn't seek work outside the home. Alot of somali girls are sucked into the western philosophy of womens role' and all that 'independant women' bull-shid. No wonder why the divorce rate is so bloody high amongst muslim couples, and some men actually encourage their wives to go out and work!!! If the wife is not at home then who's going to be attending to her husband and childrens needs? anyway, feel free to share your thoughts...x

LayZie G. Posted July 14, 2008 Young lady, it sounds to me inaadan waligaa women's studies qaadan at the university level. I recommend that you take the introductory course as an elective, when and if you reach that level of higher education. Yes, we live in a male dominated society, but at the same time, as women, we have come along way and have invested far too much to pay any mind to the likes of you. ps: If the wife is not at home then who's going to be attending to her husband and childrens needs? I am a product of two working parents. I am a living example of a daughter who had a working mother, and somehow managed to be home for her children with our qado ready before we set foot in our house. She didn't have to be home, because we had biyoosooyin. She was home for us because she wanted to be home, after a long day at the office. PSPS:incase u are wondering, I turned out better than the ones who had stay at home mothers.

Naden Posted July 14, 2008 Hear, hear! Sister Bella Princesa, I completely agree with you. And your post has all the right ingredients: 1. A pinch of Western-something. 2. A sprinkling of the right keywords: Islam. Women. Rights. 3. A dash of deterministic stuff: nature, honour. 4. A final condiment for an apocalyptic taste: DIVORCE. Et voilà! Yummy post.
