The sheer ineptness of the cowardly pirates is indeed an entertainment for us rest of the Somalis, seeing them run tail after forceful eviction and their previous checkpoint seized by S/land army was indeed a sight to be laughed at for the cowardice of the Puntiti pirates has no bound.

The Pirates are desparate. The length and humiliations they had to suffer to collect few shillings, is on another level. 

In any other, self respecting authority, they would have built something that resembles like a proper office as a first step.

There is a common culture in the HoA.

When you see someone being attacked from all sides, its a sign that all are afraid he is going to leave them in their miserable condition.

In Ethiopia its Tigray and in Somali areas its Puntland.

Even Amxara and Oromo that would not sit in the same stadium will both curse and cuss Tigray

Even Amxara and Oromo that would not greet each other will happily chit chat about Illey.

Mugadishu and Hargiesa will sing same song about Puntland

Somaliland wants for Puntland to be a country and cut off Mugadishu or Puntland to recognize Somaliland or propose a referendum for Somaliland. Somaliland knows Puntland is the key. If Puntland says that the people of Somaliland should be allowed referendum..its all finished...just like what happened in Ethiopia. Once Tigray/Afar said "we are tired of fighting to keep Eritrea, we are starving moving backwards....let them vote..it was all over.

 

Puntland is getting somewhere. Its on the move. Thus an indication that everyone else has complaint against it.

In other words, firstly, Puntland was build to be a "political scaffolding" to attain power in Mogadishu. Period. Secondly at the same time, it was also build to ensure that the "state-power" will not be "concentrated" on in Mogadishu alone as the capital of the country. Which in turn meant the formulation of the federal system for Somalia in which Col. Cabdilahi Yusuf brought-in back in 2004.

This federal system was meant to be the "political formula" that in turn will do the "dispersal of raw political power" once the real state of Somalia gets to be established, across the regions. For such "dispersal-of-power" was felt was needed given that Mogadishu even in a would-be a democratic polity (if it ever it materializes) will still be a city solely "dominated" by the USC Clans.

These are the "real two objective(s)" in which Puntland was essentially conceived to fulfill it. And that was essentially the sole critical reason it got going from the ground up back in 1998 in the first place.

However, be that as it may, it seems though that as of now the folks in Puntland are no where near closer in achieving raw power more than any other folks in federal Somalia could be said to be closer on their own way to that holly-grail of power and its retention of it within Somalia. And, of course, the hope of achieving that political power was basically the main power-projection-points in which Puntland was founded on.

Furthermore, although, the federal system in which it had pioneered it has been in the "legal book" since 2004, but still it's only on the "drawing board" and nothing concrete has been achieved so far, in-terms of real constitutional set up that has laws and regulations which in turn can "guarantee" that the political power will not be "concentrate" on in the capital.

Consequently, this dysfunctional situation or this dismal state of affairs seem destined to continue till the later part of 2020s, given that it's unlikely that Mr Cheeeman of Villa Somalia will do anything about any notion of "regularizing" the constitutional foundation of the Somalia any time soon. Or even will do anything of that sort in the remainder period he has for the tenure of his current office.

Hence, I do not know where you get this "rose-tinted" view of Puntland, given that they seems to have achieved neither of their "two-over-all-political-objectives" in which it has set it out to get it from the get-go. 

The fact that Puntland succeeded in keeping its autonomy and also becoming a force to be reckoned with Federalism is clear for everyone to see.

Maybe our Oodweyne, in his usual generousity with Somali people, would even have congratulated Puntland if it wasn't for the fact that you are brothers, neighbours, a lot at stake...

There is one truth the world over about federalism: Its irreversible. There is no country on earth that went from Federalism to unitary, unless it becomes a different country or countries..etc.

In the same political geography no country has changed its structure or system from federalism to unitary.

 

Don't become another Eritrea. Eritrea case with Tigray/Afar is a great lesson. Eritrea tried with Amxara, Oromo, Sidama, Somali that are far away just to piss off those related neighbors to no success.
