I felt like punching the police officer right in his gob for issuing with a fine of £200 and six penalty points for driving without Insurance! Alla ciil weynaa! way iyo Way!

^^tell me about it. There was a time of endless court appearances for driving offences ranging from no insurance, going through no entries, taking turns where i was'nt supposed to and defective tyres . I was banned twice! It has taken 4 years to get them off my license :rolleyes:

That is how much I got fined just last year: From improper backing citations to driving w/o insurance to reckless endangerment (I went to court for this one though,shed a little tear, gave him the wounded puppy dog look and the judge dismissed it) and Allah knows what else.

i used to get alot of parking tickets, and was always at the hearing to argue about them. because i always got ticketed when i intentionally parked int he wrong spot because I was running to my Xamaali job. so for a while, i decided I rather be late than get ticketed. 'you win some, you lose some'

here is the break down:

 

in the uk drivers have only 12 points per licence and most charges (speeding, insurance etc) take 3-9 points from your licence

 

each 3 points, (3) points is the basic amount given and lasts 3 yrs (but if more than 3 points given at the same time, they run concurrently)

 

once you reach 12 points you are banned for min 6 mths.

 

so to recap:

if you get caught by speed cameras (a MAJOR problem here, it's like the truman show for cars)

 

more than 4 times in 3yrs .you lose your driving L!!!

 

so this guy is a joker :eek:

What part of Canada do you live in?

In Ontario, its $5000 for no insurance ($15,000 for producing false insurance slip).

Guys, Thank God i am not a resident of the other side of the Atlantic for one!

 

Secondly, this is not about the money - heck if that was the case anyone would pay a couple of hundred quid and get away with it - It is the POINTS that worries me! these points will make my insurance premium rocket sky high, especially when your considered an inexperienced driver!

 

I've opted for a court hearing though, i think i can fight my way through.

 

Northerner don't you just hate it when a Police Astra follows you - detecting your number place. they've become quite advanced in that field i must say! They just signalled me after following me for about good 5 minutes and my details showed on their screen!

In Ontario, the fine is $5000 dollars.

Maybe that is a wise thing to do than to pay huge money to these ticket especialists.

LX, what are you going to fight? You had not insurance, full stop. Your excuses will not be heard at all and the magistrate who will just order you to take it on the chin. Plus you will have to pay the court costs, your fine will be at 300 quid!
