Somaliland: President Muse Bihi Abdi Receives Turkish Envoy

Hargeisa,(Qaran news)-The Somaliland President, Muse Bihi Abdi met with the Turkish envoy, Mr. Olgan Baker to discuss the possible resumption of the stalled talks between Somaliland and Somalia.

The President highlighted the continued co-operation between Somaliland and Turkey, but also stressed the need for the International Community to participate in any future talks between Somaliland and Somalia.

President Muse Bihi Abdi stated the failure of the Turkish sponsored talks to bear any fruit requires the involvement of the international community for the progress of any discussions between Somaliland and Somalia on their future relationship.

Both sides, Somaliland and Turkey, also discussed the imbalance between the grants facilitated by Turkey with regard to Somaliland’s share as opposed to those given to Somalia. Both sides agreed that more should be done to address the issue.

Also attending the meeting were the Somaliland presidential advisers on talks with Somalia, Ambassador Hussien Ali Duale” Awil” and former Somaliland Foreign Minister, Edna Aden Ismail. The Turkish Ambassador Noyan Ali was also present at the meeting.
