Imagine the constant nagging and relentless discussion of your unmarried state by your mother, your older female relatives and all your mother friends…the steady reminders of “honey…you are not getting any younger…and pursing a career is not the way to getting grand children…” that alone would drive anybody to marrying the first Farax you see…forget about being forced.

 

I don’t think that it’s as much force as it is the constant monotonous nagging since the day I turned 21 and graduated from college. Am I the only who felt that college was something I was supposed to do until I got married and had the obligatory half a dozen chick-lets…?

The Constant nagging and relentless discussions, and questioning from everyone you see everyday, even though they only asked you yesterday, to a point you can predict ever word that will come out of their mouth and in which order, is a form of forced marriage. this form of pressure will drive any normal average girl insane or she'll marry the nearest farah.

 

And yes studying is what you do while you wait to get married, then you forget about it, "haaye so maad daamine jaamacadi" den you go "haa", and they go "haa, maashaallah, maraka aaroski waa goormaah" :rolleyes:

Yes, forcing someone to wed without their consent is morally wrong lakiinse arrange marriage does have its positive side.

 

For instance, I think a bigger problem for Somalis is finding a compatible spouse. Hence arrange marriage would be of help where the individual never had the opportunity to socialise and befriend their people due to their upbringing and environment and they wished to wed their own kind.
