Somali military official shot dead in Mogadishu

Armed assailants have shot dead killed a Somali military officer outside his house in Mogadishu on Thursday morning, witnesses and police said.

Gen Abdulkadir Ibrahim Abdulle was gunned down in the capital’s Hamarweyne district by two men armed with pistols, who immediately escaped from the crime scene.

A witness said Abdulle sustained life-threatening wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he has been pronounced dead upon arrival by the doctor.

The security forces cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt, but, no arrest was made for the murder of the military serviceman.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the assassination, which was the latest in a series of killings and car bombs in the Horn of Africa
