Complete Posted March 28, 2011 I was neither born nor raised in Xamar but I was given the blessed chance to visit the beautiful city in 2004. Of all the cities I've visited throughout Somalia, Mogadishu was by far my favorite. No matter how "dangerous" people said it was, it was still a city worth visiting. For three months, I lived with family members from Huriwaa, now popularly known as Heliwaa, Soos, Cali Kamin, Towfiiq, Sobe, Lambar Afar, and Madina just to name a few. We were treated like dignitaries. Given tours around the historical city and history lessons of what the city was and somehow still is. I personally felt at home. Even though many of the streets and buildings were broken down, they still told stories of what the country once was and can potentially be. InshAllah I'll return to Mogadishu at a time of peace and stability and best believe I'll be building a seaside house near the shores of Lido. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
