Jacpher Posted December 8, 2009 I was reading this report about the rise of mental illness in Hargeysa and heavy khat users. A large chunk of Soomaali men, back home are chronic khat users and many are in fact addicts. Obviously, any long term drug abuse brings serious exposure of a host of life threatening mental disorders. If a study were to be completed, it would be interesting to see any correlation between khat use, the continues cycle of violence and mental state of people firing tareeso bullets non-stop. Ever seen those Meth before and after mug shots? I want to see Khat before and after faces. I want to see civil war before and after faces. If Ethiopia and Kenya were to stop its export all together, talow nabad ma dhici laheyd? Is this theory testable? Somalia needs to come up a better drug or another suitable alternative. Jaad and fadhi-ku-dirir brought eighteen years of self-destruction. We need something less destructive and a bit more challenging than lying down chewing and yelling loudly at the person seated next to you in a small cariish. Something grown men would enjoy.
